I know lot of people can be daunted by the thought of getting up for Sunrise, with the added challenge of getting themselves and their family ready for a photoshoot. But, the reality is for most parents of young children, that we are up anyway at that time! ha! I mean why not just roll with it. Grab a coffee and head to the beach, because I promise it is really hard to be grumpy when you are watching the sunrise over the water. I absolutely loved that this family jumped at the chance to get up early and take advantage of the gorgeous early morning light, and quiet beaches along the Surf Coast and Bellarine. We couldn't have picked a better morning if we tried, it was so lovely and warm (which is unusual for Geelong at 7am), the sun was shining and it was so still. Perfection. The benefit of sunrise here in Victoria is that it rises over the ocean, and so you get that lovely glistening reflection on the water that we don't often get at Sunset.
For a sunrise photoshoot you don't have to have a full face of makeup or everyone looking like they are going out on the town, just come as you are. In your beach dress, or your beanie, and cosy knit sweaters over your bathers. Because who knows, you could all end up swimming by the end of the shoot anyway. Let me capture your family as they are. Splashing and playing, races on the sand and building sand castles. Snuggles in Mum's arms and sitting up on Dad's shoulders. These are the memories that make me teary eyes when I look through my client galleries, those real, authentic candid moments.
One of my favourite things about this family photoshoot was that this gorgeous family was just really keen to play. To get in the water to have fun together and I just had stop, drop, roll and run around to get the right angle for the shot, and that's what I love.
